Boob Tube: A Fond Yet Tearful Farewell To Top Chef’s Fabio

Published by under Entertainment

Fabio1

Spoilers be damned, my dear Fabio finally felt the axe last night on Top Chef. It had to come some time, considering only one person can win and as much as I love Fabs, he is not the best chef on the show. In fact, I felt it coming last night. I don’t know how or why, but I could just tell it was going to be Fabio’s time to go. When it came down to him and Stefan, the decision was clear. I can’t be angry, though, he did make it to the second to last episode. So, instead of dwelling on his loss, I’d like to celebrate the time we had together on Bravo.

Retired Sasha and Malia Dolls Are Recession-Proof on eBay

Published by under Off the Press

Sasha and Malia Dolls Renamed

A few weeks ago we mentioned the Ty’s new dolls named Marvelous Malia and Sweet Sasha after the Obama Daughters. Since then, pure mayhem has resulted. First TY said the dolls weren’t actually supposed to be the First Daughters, then Michelle Obama laid the smackdown and finally TY renamed the dolls and pulled the originals from the shelves. Pick up your own Marvelous Mariah and Sweet Sydney in stores near you. Good job, TY, good job.

So what does all this mean for the lucky consumers who picked up the initial controversial dolls when they were in stock?

Lots and lots of money.

I’m Just Not That Into Terrible Movies

Published by under Entertainment

he_s_just_not_that_into_you_movie_image_jennifer_connelly__jennifer_aniston.jpg

It’s difficult to take a movie seriously that is based on a self-help book based on a line from an episode of Sex and the City. Evidently, it’s even more difficult to sit through it. He’s Just Not That Into You opened last week, much to the chagrin of possibly every self-respecting woman north of the Mason-Dixon line. Continue Reading »

Which New Chick Flick Will Be Worse?

Published by under Entertainment

Chick Flick Posters

Within the next week or so, two major chick flicks will be hitting theaters. By Valentine’s Day, it will be a battle of He’s Just Not That Into You versus Confessions of a Shopoholic… that is, if HJNTIY lasts that long.

If I sound pessimistic, I apologize. Both have promise – Big stars! Pretty clothes! Basis in a popular book! But can either of them manage to pull off blockbuster success? Because as much as they  have things going for them, they both also have some mighty big obstacles to overcome. Let’s take a look:

Purveyor of Pizza Advises Eat Less Pizza

Published by under Off the Press

Papa Johns

This is what the anti-obesity crusade has come to: The founder of Papa Johns has had to warn Brits against eating too much pizza.

The whole incident kind of reminds me of alcohol and cigarette ads that now have to tell people that as much as they want them to buy their products to please use them in moderation because they might kill you.

Except cigarettes and alcohol overuse is often the result of an addiction. Not to say I haven’t felt a serious insatiable craving for pizza in my day.

Sex and the City Movie Part II Coming Soon(ish) To A Theater Near You

Published by under Entertainment

Sex and the City movie

Ladies, get excited, really excited: Sex and the City the sequel is officially a go. Writer-director Michael Patrick King confirmed to E! that all four stars have signed contracts for another round of the Carrie Bradshaw Show.

That’s right – Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kim Cattrall and Kristin Davis will be back on screen, together, summer 2010. Okay, so that’s a little far away from now, but the foreplay starts this summer when filming begins.

Stewart Bradley Trades in Footballs for Fashion, But What Do We Get Out Of It?

Published by under Beauty Buzz

Stewart Bradley3

Stewart Bradley is doing the Sean Avery thing these days and no that doesn’t mean calling his exes “sloppy seconds” in public… well, not yet anyway.

The Eagles linebacker is interning at a fashion magazine, though. Bradley started at Elle on Monday and you can bet he’s doing the same things every other lowly intern has to do, like fetching coffee, booking travel, assisting on photo shoots, preparing to attend fashion week. Oh, ok, so maybe being a “celebrity intern” has a few extra perks.

Boob Tube: Welcome to the “Is Leah Seriously Still There” Top Chef Rant

Published by under Entertainment

Top Chef Leah

I love Top Chef, I really do. I do not love Leah.

She’s not one of the best chefs, she does not have one of the best personalities and yet, she’s still there. Why, Bravo, why?

If You Didn’t Already Know Men Dominate Advertising

Published by under Entertainment

Sexist Ad

Jezebel brought my attention to the vintage ad above. As they said, this lipstick ad will definitely blow you away.

I’m hardly a feminist, but really? It’s an ad for lipstick, so it’s safe to assume it’s targeted towards women. I’ll ask again, really?

If Mad Men wasn’t proof enough, clearly advertising is a male-centric industry.
