Barack Obama may be cool, but we all know Michelle Obama is the fashionista of the family. Poor Barack just doesn’t understand. In fact, while he seems superhuman in every other way, when speaking of Michelle’s style, the President sounds like just about every other clueless man out there.

Michelle was recently quoted as saying: “He’s always asking: ‘Is that new? I haven’t seen that before.’ It’s like, Why don’t you mind your own business? Solve world hunger. Get out of my closet.”

She’s got a point: He should be less concerned with if Michelle’s shopping a little and more concerned with AIG, the stimulus package and yes, world hunger too.

Fortunately, the rest of us mere mortals, can screw world hunger and continue to obsess over Michelle Obama’s clothes. That’s in part thanks to the Washington Post who will be dispatching staff writer Robin Givhan to Washington to cover Michelle Obama. Ostensibly she’ll also cover the First Family in general and the assorted cultural and social issues surrounding them.

But we all know that it’s mostly to inform the curious public just who made that exquisite belt Michelle is wearing.
