Just Please Don’t: Men in Short Shorts

Published by under Beauty Buzz

Reno 911 shorts

In most places, the weather is getting warmer, the sun is starting shine brighter and you can almost hear birds chirping (except here in New York). Spring has just about sprung. With the new season comes all the pleasures of warm weather like sunglasses and shorts.

Shorts are a tricky fashion statement though. Many women have a love-hate relationship with them: They love the way they keep their legs cool, but hate how they make said legs look. But for most women, there is a flattering pair of shorts out there for them.

For a real reason to hate shorts, look no further than men who sport them. We’re all for equal opportunity here at For Ladies By Ladies, but when it comes to pasty male thighs burning our retinas, we draw the line. And yet there’s always that guy somewhere who thinks this alarmingly high hemline is a good look. Designers only make it worse by continuing to design them and call it fashion.

Nathan

Not sure if any of you follow Harper’s Bizarre but if you do, you might know of one of its feature makeup artists Nathan Johnson.  In any event Nathan is featured on page 153 and the folks at Sephora’s blog were nice enough to highlight some of his best skin tricks.

If and when you wear make up, these tips might save your ass, especially if it’s last minute and on the go.  Happy cleaning!

The Next Best Way To Tell If You’re Pregnant

Published by under Off the Press

Exact Pregnancy Ad5

Copyranter is an expert in finding who-thought-of-these ads. This time around it’s a Thai ad for Exact Pregnancy Test. The message seems pretty straightforward: The only pregnancy test more accurate than Exact is the one that requires a woman to just go on in and take a look herself.

As one astute anonymous commenter noted,  “I think that any woman that flexible wouldn’t need a man and therefore, wouldn’t need a pregnancy test.”

Since one wasn’t enough, check out the rest of the ads in the campaign:

Feel the Squeeze: Spanx To Launch Clothing Line

Published by under Beauty Buzz

Spanx

Spanx are a miracle worker… sucking, tucking and shaping in all the right places. I know many a woman who won’t leave the house in a clingy dress without the aid of the butt-perfecting magic of Spanx. The best news of the day is that Spanx is expanding. First, creator Sara Blakely created a new sexier line called Haute Contour. Now you can feel great when you put them on and when take them off… in front of that special (or not so special) someone. The products have the same great shaping power with more attactive details.

Next up for Spanx is a clothing line. There’s no word yet on product details, launch date or anything else, but you can count on a flattering fit and an ass that won’t quit.

Beyonce Channels Alanis Morissette

Published by under Entertainment

At the kickoff concert of her I Am Tour in Canada, Beyonce brilliantly mashed her song “I Wish I Was a Boy” with Alanis Morissette’s great “You Oughta Know.” Beyonce doesn’t have the angst of Alanis, but she’s certainly fierce… Sasha Fierce. And I must say, I’ve never seen Alanis rock a head bang like B did here.

That’s One Way To Enjoy Doing Laundry

Published by under Relationships

Washing machine saddle

While the above contraption is ostensibly for a woman’s pleasure, a man had to invent it, right? College Candy alerted us to this very WTF creation. It’s a washing machine with a saddle attached. You know, because the washing machine vibrates and women like that. Plus, they’re the ones responsible for the laundry anyway.

Oh, and nice job with the subtlety. Sure would be fun to explain that one to the kids, grandparents, neighbors, etc.

One question though… wouldn’t a vibrator just be more convenient?

Padma Tries To Convince Us She Eats Hardee’s

Published by under Entertainment

Padma Lakshmi, of Top Chef hosting fame, stars in a new Hardee’s commercial. If you’ve ever seen the body on Padma, it’s pretty clear she doesn’t make Hardee’s a staple of her diet.

But that clearly doesn’t matter. The (male) advertisers probably just figured if they made it sexy enough people (men) would be more than happy to buy. Did she really just sensually lick hamburger sauce off her ankle? Yes, she did.

The British Government Is Tired of Their Women’s Wining

Published by under Off the Press

Woman drinking wine

The British like their women sober. As Amy Winehouse continues to roam the streets and the amount of alcohol women in England drink soars, the government has decided to crack down on binge drinking.

Apparently the problem lies in the glass. Officials believe bars serve wine in glasses that are too big, causing women to “unintentionally” drink excessively. I can’t speak for everyone, but it might not be so unintentional.

Be that as it may, the government has decided the solution is to force bars to give the option a 125ml glass, whereas most bars serve wine in either a 175ml or 250ml glass.

A Little Snip Here, A Little Less Chance of STDs There

Published by under Off the Press,Relationships

Circumcision

At the mere mention of the word, guys cringe. But that hasn’t stopped the debate on circumcision from raging. Does it decrease pleasure for him? Does she have a preference? Is it really a necessary to do that… down there…?

In 1999 newborn boys screamed in relief as the American Medical Association said no, it’s not really necessary to do that down there. Contrary to the belief that the trim was healthier and more hygienic, the AMA declared circumcision medically unnecessary.

However, a new study challenges the AMA on that point. Researchers found that male circumcision lowers guys’ risk of getting certain STDs. The risk for HPV is knocked down 35 percent, herpes 25 percent and AIDS a whopping 60 percent.
