Pull Over and Slap on Some Roadkill Jewelry

If you’ve ever driven down a rural highway, you’ve probably spotted some poor animal that didn’t make it across the street. You probably looked away in disgust as you passed the mangled body with guts hanging out and the vultures circling. But not April Hale… she looked and what she saw was art.
A few years ago the vegetarian at the time hit a squirrel along her travels. To honor the animal, she cooked and ate it (naturally). Having overcome a fear of touching roadkill, Hale was now free to pursue her dream of using found fur in a jewelry line.

Of course, she has rules about what she’ll take: Nothing domesticated, nothing illegal and nothing too messy. (Is there a lot of clean roadkill?)
Overall, Hale’s just trying to turn a negative into a positive. If a woodland creature must die a gruesome death, it might as well live on around your wrist.
