Facebook Makes Harmless Stalking Harder

While I’m not usually a fan of the Facebook redesigns, I’ve never been passionate enough to do something about them. You won’t find me in an anti-news feed group or writing vehement status updates asking why the hell Facebook is now Twitter. But this latest change has pushed me towards action (or at least public complaining). I try not to use this space as a place for personal rants, but my disappointment has left me no choice. Just tell me Facebook, where are my recently updated friends?
Last week I could still click the “Friends” tab and see lists of status updates and friends who had changed something about their profile. That’s where I found out about the juicy break-ups, new jobs, wildly inappropriate photos and more juicy break-ups… you know, all of the important stuff. Now, I’m directed to “Find People I Email” and suggestions for friends I may know. Newsflash Facebook: I do know them and there’s a reason we’re not friends.
The worst part is, this was a sinisterly subtle change. There was no big announcement it was coming… there was no announcement at all. Of course, I’m realistic enough to know Facebook never changes things back, but I needed to voice my frustration anyway. All I want is to quickly see what’s new in my friends’ and random acquaintances’ lives without scrolling through hundreds of people, creating lists or just randomly typing in names.
Is that so much to ask?
