Latvia has been hit hard by economic woes, but there’s nothing like a stream of blondes to make the country’s residents feel better. Last weekend, more than 500 blondes strutted through the capital city Riga wearing pink and white, carrying flowers and leading lapdogs. The purpose? To bring some positivity to a place suffering from a depression. There’s certainly no doubt that platinum blonde hair brings brightness.

The parade was just one perky part of Riga’s “Blonde Weekend.” Other events included a golf tournament, a fashion show and a ball. The festivities were supposedly organized by the Latvian Blondes Association, but something tells me Elle Woods was behind the whole thing.
