Chinese Perform Death Marriages, Japanese Go The Shotgun Route

In interesting Asian wedding news, the Chinese are marrying off their dead and the Japanese are marrying off their pregnant.
Recently, a father and four accomplices were arrested in China for digging up the corpse of a teenage girl to wed the man’s dead son. These “ghost brides” and marriages after death are supposedly not unusual in rural China where the nuptials include a ceremony and the bodies to be buried together.
At the same time, marriages of a different sort are gaining ground in Japan. While society used to look down on shotgun weddings, now almost one third of brides in Japan are pregnant. Experts say celebrities are behind this new trend. Ashlee Simpson, I hope you’re happy.
On the upside, the Japanese call these instances of pregnancy and marriage “double happy.” See, now that’s a positive spin!
