Joe Jackson Talks About His Record Company and Michael at the BET Awards

Published by under Entertainment

No one can judge how someone else handles tragedy, but let’s just say Joe Jackson, Michael Jackson’s father, made an interesting appearance at the BET Awards last night. The show was revised to include a tribute to the late star and Joe came out to… honor his son I suppose? Or plug his record company? Or both?

In case you haven’t seen the video above everywhere else on the Internet, take a look at an interview Joe gives at the ceremony. When asked about Michael’s death, Joe very awkwardly pauses and then says about his own son, “Remember, we just lost the world’s biggest superstar.”

All together, the video includes some unusual remarks from a grieving father. But then again, when have the Jacksons ever done anything in the usual fashion?

Published by under Entertainment

This little guy must have taken a wrong turn at the waterfront and headed towards the highway. Fortunately, police picked him up before he was able to get into too much trouble. Alls well that ended well… as long as this doesn’t make it onto his permanent record.

Burgers, Fries and A White Castle Wedding

White Castle wedding

I’ve read about weddings at Taco Bell and McDonald’s but there’s just something about marrying at White Castle that sits wrong with me. Or maybe that’s just the sliders that are sitting wrong with me… and probably the whole wedding party.

Cocktail of the Week: The Thriller

Published by under Entertainment

Michael Jackson Thriller

It’s that time again… Cocktail of the Week. Because let’s be honest, the only thing you really care about on Friday afternoon is how quickly you can get some alcohol pumping through that overworked body. We’re here to help.

This week we bring you Cocktail of the Week with a heavy heart. Just hours after Farrah Fawcett died from her battle with anal cancer, Michael Jackson also passed away. A night of watching the same coverage over and over again on CNN about Michael’s death inspired me to find a cocktail worthy of his royalness.

The Thriller is a perfect tribute: A nice way to drown your sorrows and celebrate the life of a music legend at the same time.

So, King of Pop, this one’s for you.

Read on for the recipe.

Battle of the TwitPic Overshares: Lindsay Lohan vs. Katy Perry

Published by under Entertainment

Lindsay Lohan Katy Perry twitpic

Twitter is a wonderful place where both average people and celebrities can overshare until their hearts are content. No one’s better at that than our favorite trainwreck Lindsay Lohan. You could follow the drama of her on-again-off-again romance simply through her Twitter updates. However, she took things one step further about a week and a half ago when she posted a topless photo of herself because she was “bored.” Bored and in need of some media attention that is.

Perhaps in a bid to out-Lohan Lindsay Lohan, Katy Perry posted her own revealing TwitPic the other day. It showed her naked in a bathtub with pizza. Naturally.

So who wins in this TMI TwitPic contest? We’ll have to go with Lindsay because no one acts out for the sake of the spotlight quite like her. However, we’ll definitely give Katy creativity points.

Supreme Court Says: School Strip Search Not Okay

Published by under Off the Press

Ibuprofen

The Supreme Court has decided that school officials did in fact violate the privacy of Savana Redding when they strip searched the 13-year-old at her public school over suspicion that she had ibuprofen pills, reports Reuters.

An 8-1 vote upheld the ruling that the school had violated the right to protection against unreasonable search and seizure. Only good old Clarence Thomas didn’t see the incident as a violation of privacy.

The incident in question took place back in 2003. After word had spread that students were bringing drugs to school, an assistant principal ordered a school nurse to make Redding remove her clothes to see if she was hiding the hard stuff… ibuprofen pills.

Some defended the actions, claiming strip searches are necessary for “student safety, school order and combating a growing drug problem.” However, if that’s their point, perhaps they should have picked a more compelling test case. Ibuprofen, really?
