A True Christmas Miracle

A Colorado family received a true Christmas Eve miracle when Tracey Hermanstorfer and her baby boy were revived after cardiac arrest.
Tracey’s water broke, so her husband Mike rushed her to Memorial Hospital Central. The baby wasn’t due for another 7 weeks. She was in more pain than she had been with her first two deliveries so she decided to have an epidural for the first time ever. After the epidural she was tired and lied down and closed her eyes holding her husbands hand.
Mike said that her hand started to get cold and he noticed her fingertips were blue. He looked at her face and she looked “grey as a ghost”. Tracey stopped breathing about a minute prior to her heart stopping. Code blue was declared.

Dr. Stephanie Martin heard the beeps and call of code blue and rushed into the room to try and revive Tracey. She was dead for about 4-5 minutes. At this time they decided to try and save the baby and did an emergency cesarian, only to find the baby not breathing either. Immediately after the baby was out, Tracey’s heart started beating again. The doctors revived baby Colton in his father Mike’s arms. Dr. Martin said that it was unusual to have this type of immediate recovery.
If Tracey hadn’t gotten a second chance at life and her son Colton didn’t even get his first chance at life it would be a Christmas Nightmare. I can not imagine, nor do I want to, what kind of pain that would cause the family.
How amazing that they both were revived and they are okay today? What an amazing story to hear. Below is a video of Tracey, her husband Mike, her baby Colton, and Dr. Martin explaining what happened on Christmas Eve.
