Quitting smoking is definitely a lot of people’s new year’s resolution this year.  We all know it’s bad for you and it is a disgusting habit.  Pink is trying to quit smoking.  She calls herself an “asthmatic singing smoker”.  That’s not something to be proud of.  Her raspy voice is great, but the fact that it is because she has been a smoker since the age of 9 is not.  Yes, the age of 9!  I don’t think at 9 years old I ever even thought about smoking a cigarette.  I was just told by my parent that they were bad and to stay away.  I wouldn’t even of known what to do with one.

She is 30 years old, and after 21 years of smoking she is now deciding to quit?  Wow, took quite a long time.  In 2003 there was an article in Britain’s “Observer” that said that cigarettes have “given her a rasp which she likes: dirty, sexy, snarling.”  Today Pink challenges that image.  In January 2010′s Women’s Health Pink said “Smoking isn’t cute at all.  It’s awful.  I hate the smell, the taste.  I hate being around people when I smoke.  I hate everything about it.”

I am glad she finally realizes how disgusting it is.  She is so unbelievably talented with her songwriting and her singing.  To let smoking ruin her lungs and her life would be devastating.
