Lookin’ Like A Fool With Your Pants On The Ground

Last night was the second episode of the new American Idol.  Mary J. Blige was a guest judge.  I never realized how hilarious she was until this show.  I know she is a very talented singer and is gorgeous, but shoot, she is FUNNY.  There were times that she was laughing so hard she couldn’t control herself.  Kara held her and told the contestant that she was upset.  I would be doing the exact same thing, I don’t know how the judges can keep straight faces or not burst out laughing for more than half of the auditions!

Some of my favorites from last night.  Not all are people I will root for, but these are the ones that are very entertaining to me.

As usual, they started off with someone so completely ridiculous.  Dewone Robinson, who had an original song.  I really don’t think he would have been THAT bad if he sang a normal song.

There was a girl from a small town in Tennessee who jumps off bridges for fun.  Vanessa Wolfe had SUCH an accent, but it went well with her country voice.  She happened to sing very nicely.  She was so cute saying that she was going to eat peanuts on the airplane to Hollywood.  I really don’t see her going far in this competition but at least she will be able to travel out to California.  Good for her!

Holly Harden with the guitar outfit was a weirdo.  She had the outfit from Halloween she said.  All I know is that trying out for American Idol should be similar to an interview, dress the part.  Don’t dress like an instrument!  She looked like an idiot, but I guess she got people’s attention.  She had a great voice.  She sang “You Ain’t Woman Enough To Take My Man” extremely well.  She will do well with the country.  I loved how Mary J. said “I don’t get it”, it was pretty damn funny.  Mary would’ve said no!  So funny!

The funny thing about Holly is that she was on America’s Got Talent 2 seasons ago, the same season as Susan Boyd.  She made the top 40.  Her talking voice is high and annoying yet her singing voice is low and husky.  Strange… I guess we will see how far she goes in this competition.

Then there was Lamar Royal, who said he was going to go in and listen to what the judges had to say.  He wanted to take their constructive criticism.  He sang Boyz 2 Men and was just not good.  It was hilarious because every time a judge started to talk, he would interrupt with his singing.  They said you’re bad dude, give it up!  The best was that he excited to perform in front of Mary J. and he ended up calling her a bitch with no talent.

Mallorie Haley sang “A Piece of My Heart” really well in her audition.  She was pretty and had spunk to her.  I think she will make it far, especially if you can kill a song like that!  She was great!  I am rooting for her for sure!  I LOVE that song, and she blew me away.

Save the best for last… General Larry Platt, at 62 years old, made quite an impression on people.  He too had an original song.  Simon has a horrible feeling that the song can be a hit.  I happen to agree. If that Asian from seasons back who sang “She Bangs” went as far as he did, Larry Platt will go very far after this show.  He already has a fan page on facebook!

If you want to sing Pants on the Ground the lyrics are below:

Pants on the ground
Lookin’ like a fool with your pants on the ground

With the gold in your mouth, hat turned sideways
Pants hit the ground, call yourself a cool cat
Lookin’ like a fool, walkin’ to the town
With your pants on the ground!
