What has happened in California is devastating.  I can’t imagine the position these people are in when there is absolutely nothing that they can do to help themselves.  Imagine your home and vehicle being surrounded by 5 feet of mud the consistency of pudding.  It makes me cringe thinking about how these people feel.

LA CANADA FLINTRIDGE, Calif. (AP) — Residents evacuated from foothill communities deluged by weekend mudslides north of Los Angeles were allowed to return home Sunday as crews moved debris and cleared catch basins in anticipation of more rain later in the week.

The final evacuation order was lifted for about 70 homes in the Paradise Valley area of La Canada Flintridge, L.A. County Sheriff’s Dep. Guillermina Saldana said. Only residents with valid identification were allowed back into the neighborhood that was choked with a thick layer of mud and debris during a pummeling rain early Saturday.

Forty-three homes in the La Canada Flintridge area were damaged and 500 more evacuated Saturday after mud and water overflowed basins and surged into streets, taking furniture, cars and concrete barriers with it. Nine houses were declared unsafe to enter. About 25 vehicles were damaged.

It is so sad because these people weren’t warned in time to evacuate like they were last month.  When it was realized how severe the weather was going to be this past Saturday morning (2/6/2010), it was too late to evacuate the residents.  It is SO sad and I wish there was something that we could do to help these people!

When things like this happen I wish that there was immediate help for these victims.  Like Haiti’s earthquake… yeah we all donated money and I’m sure they have a ton to rebuild Haiti, but how long will that take?  In the North-East they are dealing with a couple feet of snow.  This weather is getting out of control!  In Florida, I don’t even see lizards or iguanas anymore.  I hate lizards, but it is sad that the cold weather here has killed them.  The worst part about it is that dogs are eating the dead iguanas and becoming paralyzed from the iguanas being infected with botulism.

Let’s hope that the terminator will pull through for California.
