I don’t know what prostitute takes $40 for sex but apparently D’Angelo thought that was enough.  He offered to pay an undercover cop posing as a prostitute the low fee of $40.  Sex shouldn’t be for sale anyway, but come on now… $40 is pretty damn low, right?

The 36-year-old R&B singer was arrested early Saturday while cruising in his Range Rover on Greenwich and Horatio Streets. D’Angelo, whose real name is Michael Archer, also had $12,000 dollars in cash when he was busted.

The Grammy Award winner pleaded not guilty and plans to fight the charge.

In a statement, the D’Angelo says he hopes the public will “allow the American justice system to resolve the matter before jumping to any conclusions.”

I feel bad for celebrities sometimes in cases like this.  Had this been anyone else, it wouldn’t be all over the news.  Hopefully this doesn’t ruin his career, which I doubt it will, but still… I don’t think he needs to pay for sex.  I’m sure lots of his fans would gladly take on that task free of charge.
