Life’s A Plastic Beach For The Gorillaz

Welcome to the World of the Plastic Beach… that is the name of a song on the Gorillaz new album Plastic Beach. It features Snoop Dogg… and we all know Snoop wouldn’t participate in something that wasn’t dope as fugg, right? Well not exactly. Snoop’s song wasn’t what I had hoped. At first, I was a little disappointed in this album. I was expecting something way different. That is just my opinion, but geez, I was expecting something great after hearing that the new album is topping the charts in Europe.
I have had time to listen to the album all the way through, and it does flow nicely and I think it’d be good background music to a party, or even at a bar. It’s chill and has good beats. This is one of those albums that you have to listen to all the way through and a couple times to really enjoy it. For me at least. At first I was totally against it… now I’m actually really appreciating it.
Animated supergroup GORILLAZ are back at the top of the European album charts, scoring their third number one with PLASTIC BEACH.
The band, led by former Blur frontman Damon Albarn, have snagged number ones in Europe with each of their three albums so far.
The new release debuts at the top of countdowns in Denmark and Austria and scores number two placings in the band’s native United Kingdom, France and Switzerland.
There are a few songs that are pretty kick ass. Almost every song takes way too long to get started. Like come on, 40 seconds into a song it should already be going good, not JUST getting started. That is just my opinion, I like rocking out from the start. I am impatient when it comes to music, I don’t want to wait for it to get started.
They are starting to remind me of Depeche Mode in the fact that the songs take a while to start. Depeche Mode rules, don’t get me wrong, but just a little bit of similarity there.
Stylo and Superfast Jellyfish kind of sound like some other their other songs more than the others. Glitter Freeze, Sweepstakes and To Binge are possibly the best songs on the album. Pirate Jet has a great beat. There is one song though that is totally named incorrectly. Cloud of Unknowing… it should be called Cloud of Annoying. It’s a great jam, but would be great to get SUPER obnoxious to and of course be annoying to. Just the beginning makes me laugh… but the rest of the song pretty much rules.
Feel Good, Dare, and Clint Eastwood will always be my favorite Gorillaz songs by far. This new album doesn’t even compare to any one of those songs, but at the same time, I guess they weren’t going for that type of song… I do have to say, I was wrong at first about this album… I really like it now after sitting and listening to it all the way through.

I dunno who wrote this. And I seriously hope you aren’t getting paid money to write these reviews. You know nothing about music, and you seem to be a zombie.
“Like come on, 40 seconds into a song it should already be going good, not JUST getting started. ”
This quote proves you are the epitome of the reason why music is primarily garbage. It’s people like you that keep ”music” stagnant. People like you buy recycled trash and keep big fat rich music exec’s pockets lined with dough.
please…don’t quit your day job, zombie.
Mike- wow, well, you’re right… I probably am the kind of person who puts money in the wrong people’s pockets when it comes to music, but at the same time, that is just my opinion. I like all kinds of music and I do know what good music is… I was really disappointed with this new Gorillaz album. And no.. I’m not a zombie…
I don’t know about you, or other people, but when a new album comes out from an artist that I really like… sometimes I have to listen to the cd more than once to really appreciate it. Maybe that is the case with this new album.
