Face Slimming Hair Styling Tricks
We all know the ideal face shape is the perfect oval, but not everyone is lucky enough. A round or square face can make your face look fuller. The point of a hairstyle is to make your face look like it is the perfect shape. There are ways to slim your face by just getting a great ‘do. It is similar to clothing. Buy the wrong outfit for your shape, and you’ll make yourself look 10 pounds heavier… same goes for hair styles.
It is extremely important that your hair stylist is an artist, and not just a hair stylist. There is a big difference. Artists look at your face and hair as a canvas and want to accentuate the good and camouflage the bad. A hair stylist that understands your face shape is the way to go. They should be able to recommend a suitable look for you and create it… making you look super fab as an end result!
A lot of girls think that long, straight and flat hair is slimming… I personally think it is the complete opposite.
A great list of hair styling tricks after the jump. Definitely worth taking a look at!

Just keep these slimming tricks of the trade in mind:
1. Shoot for a length that falls somewhere between the chin and the shoulder.
2. Steer clear of styles that are too wide.
3. Add some soft fringes or layers around the face to hide part of the cheeks.
4. Use a side part to de-emphasize the round shape of your face.
5. Add some height to the top of your hair to give the illusion of a more oval-shaped silhouette.
6. Avoid blunt-cut bangs.
7. Add contrast with highlights and color — this will create shading which has a slimming effect.
I believe that bangs are flattering on everyone. Just different variations of them. Just don’t over do the bangs if you have a small, round, or square shaped face. You don’t want to squish your face even more. You want to elongate it.
Dark hair has a slimming effect. What is the first thing you see when you look at a blond? Their hair draws your attention and looks wider. Blond expands, dark deepens. If your face is too slim, put lighter pieces on the sides of your face near your temples. If your face is very round, make sure you have the darker pieces on the sides, as they will slim.
If you do opt for long hair, adding volume and body will slim your face as well. To elongate your neck, show it off. Also, only go for a pixie cut if you have an oval face.
If you start talking to a stylist about your face shape an they don’t understand what you are saying, get up and run to another stylist that sees you as a beautiful canvas to design!
